Chapter 1: A Birthday gift

This is the first blog article related to my second novel “The Feathered Snake”, not yet translated in English.

WARNING: I will translate all the quotes from Italian: no editing, no proofreading by a native speaker. Then be kind with me! 🙂

It’s February, the birth month of Anna and Matthew. Amjad Sahih, the golden dragon, comes to see them, and it tells them that they can choose to visit a very special place on earth for their birthday. It’s a great and unique gift: a trip on the wings of a dragon. Anna and Matthew discuss for a while, then they agree upon the destination.

“«Nazca Lines», Anna said.

«The speaking desert», Matt whispered after a while. That was the name the natives gave to the arid Peruvian upland.

Anna and Matthew grew silent for seconds, looking at each other.

«Nazca. It’s decided», they said together.

«Then let it be Nazca», Amjad said solemnly.”

The Nazca Lines are a series of ancient geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert in southern Peru. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. The designs are lines made in the ground by removing the reddish pebbles and uncovering the whitish ground beneath. Hundreds are simple lines, but more than 70 are zoomorphic designs of animals such as birds, fish, jaguars, monkeys, or human figures.

Next week don’t miss Anna and Matt’s journey to Peru and not only!
